However, IMHO, this year the superbowl ads were not as entertaining as the game. There were a few spots that caught my attention (in a good way :)): Doritos snow globe, Pepsi Forever Young and the GE electricity/scarecrow spot. And there were some that caught my attention in a bad way: Go Daddy, Go Daddy, Go Daddy. :(

Out of curiosity, after the game was over, I looked at the top search queries on Google, according to Google Trends, and was amazed to see that almost all of the top queries were related to the Superbowl. On my blog, Search Matters, I posted the "Top 5 Superbowl Ads According to Google." Check it out! And let me know which ads you liked and didn't like.

This post is for Chris Thompson

I have several Google Alerts set up for Lead Maverick, including employees' names, so we can track any chatter out there on the Internet. And as I was sifting through the multitude of postings for "Sean Jackson" and "Chris Thompson," I wondered what impact, if any, the Internet will have on parents' choices for baby names. As the Internet becomes more ubiquitous, will people look for baby names like they look for unique URL's? Odder things have happened. What do you think? :ermm:
Just for fun, here's a look at some names from the Social Security Administration:

Most popular boy/girl baby names in 1950:

1. James / Linda
2. Robert / Mary
3. John / Patricia
4. Michael / Barbara
5. David / Susan
6. William / Nancy
7. Richard / Deborah
8. Thomas / Sandra
9. Charles / Carol
10. Gary / Kathleen

Most popular boy/girl baby names in 2007:

1. Jacob / Emily
2. Michael / Isabella
3. Ethan / Emma
4. Joshua / Ava
5. Daniel / Madison
6. Christopher / Sophia
7. Anthony / Olivia
8. I usually don't watch these, but I knew that Texas Rangers' Josh Hamilton was participating so I was interested. In the first round, while all the other sluggers were putting up 6, 7 or 8 home runs, Josh Hamilton walked up to home plate--with his 71 year old BP pitcher who was his American Legion coach growing up--and knocked out 28 home runs! And these weren't balls just barely clearing the outfield walls either. These were monster hits to the upper deck and to the farthest walls. Josh surpassed the record for HR's in one round. Everyone in Yankee Stadium was on their feet, chanting, "HAMILTON!"

It was so cool to see a Texas Ranger receive such attention (let's face it, Rangers fans usually don't have too much to cheer about...much less have other teams' fans cheering!). But it was especially great to see someone who has worked as hard and overcome so much as Josh Hamilton. But in the final round of the HR Derby, Josh only managed to hit three long balls, which gave the victory to Justin Morneau with five home runs. So despite setting the Derby record and despite electrifying the crowd and giving them all something to cheer about, Josh Hamilton came in second place. But what a win he had last night!

If you missed the Home Run Derby, check out the story on the Texas Rangers website. And if you've been living in a cave and do not know the Josh Hamilton story, be sure to read it too.

And you might want to tune in tonight to see what Josh Hamilton--and Ian Kinsler, Michael Young and Milton Bradley--do in the All-Star Game tonight.

Go Rangers!

MLB All-Star Voting Ends Today!

Be sure to cast your vote for the Texas Rangers to go to the All-Star game. Of course, this was due to the FDA's recommendations with the recent salmonella scare. My chicken bol just was not the same! :(

I am happy to report that tomatoes are back at Chipotle now :D...and apparently at other restaurants for those of you who enjoy tomatoes.

Did anyone else feel the pain without tomatoes?

I'm Pretty Sure Game 6, Dallas v. San Jose was AMAZING

Probably my favorite sporting event happened last night - the Stars and the Sharks went into 4 overtimes. Unfortunately, I fell asleep during OT 3 and didn't see the game winning goal. But it was hour upon hour of really exciting hockey.
