If I edit an already exiting content piece/post, how will Google know to crawl and index it again?

If a piece of content isn't ranking well, you can tweak/edit it. For example, increasing the keyword frequency, adjusting the title, etc...

The URL will not change if you are editing an already existing piece of content. However, it is important that you [b]change the POST DATE to the current or future date[/b]. Google crawls our directory daily or every other day. It first crawls the site map, but changing the POST DATE to the current or future date will allow the piece of content to appear on the directory homepage, which validates to Google that it is important and makes it more available for Google to crawl and index again.

Do expired “Free Trial” accounts have the voting feature on their pages and if so, why?

Free trial accounts do have the "Rate Us" feature on their pages based on the original design of the directory. We currently do not have the ability to easily disable this feature on an account-type basis, but will consider it for future development initiatives.

How are the “most recommended companies” ranked on the directory homepage?

Most Recommended Companies are ranked on average rating based on individual vote counts to the "Rate Us" on landing pages (unique IP addresses – not duplicates submitted by the same IP address) and are listed on the sidebar in alphabetical order.

What is your policy for monitoring the quality of content in the directory and what is your policy for deleting expired content?

For legal reasons, we do not edit or screen content as stated in our Terms of Use policy available on the site. Here is the quote from our TOU:

If Lead Maverick discovers Content that does not appear to conform to the Terms of Service and/or our Acceptable Use Policy, Lead Maverick may investigate and determine in good faith and in its sole discretion whether to remove the Content. Lead Maverick will have no liability or responsibility for performance or non-performance of such activities. You acknowledge that certain Content available through the Service are available only through the Service and others are available both through the Service and other sources, such as Usenet, over which Lead Maverick has absolutely no control.”[/i]

As for expired content, we leave it on the directory because the Lead Maverick community as a whole benefits from the collection of content. However, as time passes and old content is not updated or augmented, it will naturally fall off the top of the SERP’s.

what's up with Yahoo and Lead Maverick?

Hey Just something I've noticed in the last few days, but for some reason all of the search terms that where showing up in Yahoo for content that has been posted for over a month or so is missing... does anyone have any ideas as to why this may be? Basicly what I have noticed when I view the reports is that the Yahoo reports has nothing showing up, and well I was just wondering if it was an issue of communication between Lead Maverick and Yahoo or if it's just because Yahoo is lame?

What if my content doesn’t stay on the directory homepage very long – will it still be indexed?

Yes, your content will still be indexed by search engines.

If you get bumped off of the directory homepage because there is a lot of content posted in one day by other users, there's no need to worry. There isn't necessarily a higher advantage to getting crawled from the directory homepage for freshly posted content, because your content posts are crawled in several other locations on our application (our sitemap, your individual content post, your company page that lists all of the content you have posted in that account, etc...)

RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication. Every time you add content into Lead Maverick, we automatically create an RSS file. Visitors may elect to receive your RSS feed to keep up with your business in an automated manner. We are RSS junkies around here. First, click on the Cool Tools icon in Lead Maverick to see the link to your RSS file. Second, in the Cool Tools section, review the list of sites that accept RSS feeds. This list is our recommendation to maximize the exposure of your company's RSS.

How long will it take to see my content at the top of the search engines?

We can’t predict exactly how long it will take to see search results. It depends on a lot of factors, like the amount of content you enter, the quality of the content you enter in relation to your keywords, the amount of web pages indexed for your keywords, among other things. And it varies from search engine to search engine. But we have seen results within six to eight days, and sometimes even as quickly as 24 hours! So track your results and let us hear about your successes.

By all means, you should investigate other free listing sites that allow you to post your content on them. Telephone companies have directory sites, and many industry organizations have ways to place your information on them. But here is the rub…it takes a lot of time and your information may be lost in the clutter.
